or worth talking about. However, here I am! I'm in college, in my second semester in college. I have a double major: pre-nursing and pre-respiratory therapy. I don't have any kids nor do I plan to until I have my bachelor's degree. To top it all off, I'm in the Navy Reserves as a Hospital Corpsman (HM)! Believe that I'm not done leaving my mark on this world! Far from it!
Educate yourself about HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, as young black women are likely to contract HIV and AIDS 19 more times than young white women! (advocatesforyouth.org) Sister, don't be a statistic! Take heed of this fact and be conscientious, not promiscuous! Your body is a temple and you should be mindful of what you allow to enter your sacred place.
Take pride in your appearance! Whether you have decided to go Natural or relaxed, cherish your hair. It is your crown of glory and therefore should be treated as such. Water is the spice of life; it is essential for outstanding health. Become addicted to it! Hold your head high and strive to make each day better than the last. You are a woman on a mission; leading and inspiring others to be innovators and groundbreakers.
Possess the secret of joy! Be a phenomenal woman! Find out why the caged bird sings! Keep searching until you find your mother's garden! Keep your eyes on God! Keep waiting to exhale!
If you don't take anything from this advice from one sister to another, remember that our black is beautiful, always and forever.
