Common resume mistakes and how to avoid them

When writing your resume, there are many mistakes you can make. Think about this, when your possible employer is reading it, the contents are what form their first impression of you, whether they've seen you or not. Not everyone is the greatest at writing, period. People have grammar and punctuation mishaps all the time, the way it's composed isn't too great, well, if you're a dummy about how to write a resume, you're reading the right article.

It's important to contemplate long and hard about what you want to say to grab this employer's attention, and possibly get an interview out of it. It really is what makes all the difference. If your resume isn't good, you look no good either, and they probably won't be calling you any time soon! Many companies are very generic in what they want to hear, so really, it is not that difficult. What's important is you have to know that company, what it wants, what are it's needs?

The resume is extremely important when people are judging you. Without that resume, you will never step foot in that building, never take a seat in a chair, never have a conversation that leads to "Great! So when can you start?" It's easy to butcher, but with help, it can become a masterpiece of past experiences and skills.

One key component to building the best resume is to research your company of appliance. What is it's history? What exactly does it do? What kind of positions does it have? Most importantly, what position do you want? That can be the deciding factor in how you write this resume. Be in tune with that company, show them you really have what they desire, show them that you have what it takes to be a member of their staff, and have it easily detected in your resume.

Maybe find someone to talk to who works there, it's never a bad idea to set up an exploratory interview with someone in that field of work, or preferably, that exact company. Ask them about the skills they find necessary, how many hours on average you'd probably be working, what their policies are, and things such as that. Talking to someone about the company can make all the difference in what that company perceives you as. Make sure you are perceived as someone they'd really like to have, it will assure you an interview, maybe even a job.
