Market research is of benefit to all businesses. It saves waste, cost and time if you are able to identify your target market.
Too many businesses expend energy and income needlessly pumping out promotional material for their product or service, without paying any attention to who is receiving it. If you are selling rock climbing holidays, there is little point in undertaking a leaflet drop in an area that is inhabited primarily by retired folks.
It is not difficult to secure market information for the area you will be concentrating upon. This can provide you with a reasonably accurate range of data regarding the local populace. It will include items such as age demographics; social rating; mix of property types etc. Some will even give you such detailed data as buying habits.
The money spent on accurate market research will be more than recouped by the targeted nature of your promotion and its potential sales increase.
