Embarking on a new world of education can be a little daunting, but trying something new is always a little scary, and perhaps nerve wracking. After things get rolling, and after meeting your fellow students and finding out that they want to better themselves also, you'll find half the battle was just getting there.
It's not easy going back to school, but you'll find once you conquer the seemingly impossible, it will get easier. Here are the top five Ins and Outs of night school:
1.Going back to school can be overwhelming. Draw on the life experiences you've attained over the years to guide you through this experience. Certainly, starting something new, and trying to fit it into your already hectic life can be difficult, but because you're older and wiser, you can do this too.
2.I can't afford to go to night school. It's a catch-22 situation; you need to go to night school to get a better job, but can't afford it. Look around for various institutions that offer similar courses at lower prices. Many colleges have loans, and scholarships for adult students. Go part time and spread the cost out over time.
3.Not enough time. Life is already too busy, this will make it busier. Think of it this way: you're making a commitment to bettering your life. Sure it will be tough for a while, you won't have as much personal time, but it won't last forever. You'll make new friends, and you can help each other with class work.
4.Who's going to take care of the kids? There are many alternatives to solve this problem, such as your partner getting out of work earlier. Possibly, a relative can watch the kids while you're at school. Some colleges have on-site daycare.
5.Staying motivated is not as difficult as it sounds. Keep thinking positive thoughts, and focus on current situation. Take it one day at a time, but realize that it won't last forever, and the future will be brighter because you earned that new degree.
Going to night school can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be impossible. Keep your eye on the prize, and think positive. You'll make new friends, and you can help each other. Just remember, if there's a will, there's a way.
