Tips to take the stress out of traveling

Traveling without stress may seem like a dream world to some. In actuality it is a dream that can come true with a little foresight and an open mind! The key to stress free travel is to plan first, then take each day of your trip as it comes. Getting all worked up about the small things can really ruin a fun time. Your vacation is supposed to be so you can relax and enjoy yourself, maybe even find some inner peace that had been eluding your life! Not stressing over every detail.

There are a few simple things you can do ahead of time to ensure the trip of your dreams doesn't turn into a nightmare. First have a plan. Your plan doesn't have to outline every detail of every minute of your trip, just a loose idea of where you would like to be and what you would like to do each day. Don't try to fit in too much at once, or you won't have time to appreciate your activities. If you decide to go on a two hour bus tour, leave yourself enough time to get there, time to eat and even a few minutes to shop. Maybe even schedule in a nap or "down-time" to read or relax during your trip. You may find it is refreshing and will recharge your batteries if you plan to explore night-life during your trip.

The second thing you can do to help your vacation be a stress-free one is to make a list of the things you need to take on your trip. This will free your mind to think about other issues, like what kind of dress did you want to wear out Saturday night, instead of wondering why you forgot your toothbrush and deodorant! As you build your list try to think of how many days and nights you will be staying. Also, keep in mind any wardrobe changes you may need during the trip. If you are at the beach in the morning, you aren't going to want to wear your bikini top, clam diggers and flip flops out to that fancy restaurant!

The third thing you can do to make sure your trip goes without a hitch is to get some maps! If you are driving to your destination, maps of your journey and also a good map of your destination can make a huge difference in how your time is spent! Even if you fly to your dream vacation it is always a good idea to get a local map of the area. That way you can look at the area you are staying at and familiarize yourself with it. Time spent lost on the road is no fun, and no way to spend your vacation!

Finally, the best thing you can do to have a stress free vacation is to just let go! If you plan all outdoor activities and it rains all week, be ready to change gears and set out to those museums or indoor activities! If you miss your tour bus, maybe you could just browse through the local shops instead! Be flexible with your vacation. Everything doesn't have to happen just as you pictured it. Most times it will NEVER go exactly as you planned!

Remember, your vacation is just that, a vacation from the stresses of normal life. Don't let your vacation leave you more stressed than you were before you left home! With a little planning, a list, some maps and an open mind, your dream trip can truly happen! Make sure you take time to enjoy the beauty in our world! That will ensure your trip is a stress free one.
