more subtle concept than the usual notion of reincarnation, reflecting the Buddhist concept of personality existing without a "soul".

Buddhism doesn't reject the Hindu concept of samsara, but suggests that it occurs across six realms of beings, so it's very rare for a person to be reborn in the immediate next life as another human.

TAOISM AND REINCARNATION

In the same way that Sikhism adopted Hindu beliefs about reincarnation, Taoism adopted its beliefs from Buddhism. This means that Taoists don't strictly follow the idea of the soul being reborn, but say that it migrates to another life on the death of the former.

EVIDENCE FOR REINCARNATION

Various sources highlight past life regression as evidence for reincarnation. The fact that clairvoyants and psychics can apparently bring past lives out of people through regression techniques like hypnosis could go some way to indicate the existence of previous lives.

Other verification includes near death experience which could help confirm the existence of some spiritual life before our current existence.

Yet whether parapsychology is real evidence of the rebirth of the soul is still not conclusive. Sceptics argue that these techniques plant the information in individuals who want to believe it's true.

This "proof" certainly appears to have some factual basis to it. But whether it's proof of God and an afterlife or proof of an overactive imagination, the jury's still out.
