require that gold and silver be legal tender. The Federal Reserve, which is a private agency, that Congress allowed to be born, runs the monetary policy of the United States, and the world for that matter. It uses printing presses to print fiat money, money that is paper, and not backed by solid metals of value: gold, silver, other. Prior to 1913, people freely traded, bought and sold using metal. Gold and silver was the monetary standard for thousands of years. America was prosperous when gold and silver were legal tender. Under a fiat paper money system, government through the the taxing tool of the Internal Revenue Service, take money from the people and the people have not voice of protest against that institution, since the Federal Reserve controls it, and controls Congress. Through monetary policy of the FED, there have periods of inflation, deflation, and depression, which did not occur naturally under a gold or silver legal tender system. This has greatly lessened liberty.
What can be done? Congress can once again use the Constitution to regain its authority over monetary policy. By legalizing the Constitution, Congress legalizes gold and silver as legal tender, and liberty is once again strengthened. There has been much discussion on how this can be done. There is a plan to get back to sound money. We won't here it from mainstream media, or most politicians.
