Buying a birthday present for your boyfriend can be hard, especially if you have not been dating for long. The longer you are together the easier it will be to know what your guy would like.

In order to help you choose a present for him you should first find out what he is interested in. Talk to his friends and family to see if he has dropped any hints about what he'd like for his birthday. He might be even dropping hints your way so keep one ear open to listen to them.

There is no need to buy him something he will never use or would never wear. If he likes sports buy him something geared towards his favorite sport, a new golf club, a basketball hoop or even a hockey bag. If he is a huge sports fanatic buy him tickets to the game for you and him. Watching a game live is always better than watching it on the television.

Maybe he likes cars. Buy him a book about his dream car or even a miniature replica or dinky car. You never know you might win his heart over by being so darn cute.

If he likes music, buy him that CD he's been talking about buying or surprise him with concert tickets to their next show. It is your duty as a girlfriend to figure out what he likes or wants the most, pick his gift around that. An amazing girlfriend will also prepare a fabulous dinner at home, if she can cook, and if not order his favorite meal in from his favorite take out restaurant. At the end of the meal give him the gift you picked out for him.

Have your time together then send him out for a good time with his buddies. You know he's dying to go have a good old drunk fest with them! You never know he might surprise you and want to stay in for the rest of the evening with you. He may even suggest go see a movie together, if he does let him pick out the movie.

It is his birthday after all so suck it up and see that action movie with him. You'll always have another day to be able to go see that new Reese Witherspoon film. Either way make your mans' birthday as special as you can, he'll love you for it. When the time comes around for your birthday he will always be willing to return the favor. What goes around comes back around.
