This is one of those questions that you would think there would be no debate, but oops, there is. I don't understand people when they say that climate change is debatable and that global warming is a myth.
Even the current administration recognizes in, if not in words then in money to study it, over 5 billion U.S. dollars. I haven't spent a penny on research and have come to this conclusion, climate change and global warming are related in every way. It should be common sense. We (developed human beings) have created a situation where we cause "green house" gasses to be trapped in our fragile atmosphere, this cause temperature changes.
Ice is melting at a surprising rate. Tornadoes are increased, look at the storms this year alone. Over 50 dead in the past week due to tornadoes, oh by the way tornado season doesn't start until March and is very rare in that pert of the country to begin with. Ships can now sail from Alaska to Greenland without hitting ice. The North Pole is now less then the size of Texas. Polar Bears are drowning, they can only hunt on ice, but there isn't any so they swim to the to the point of exhaustion and drown. The average temperature of the Earth has gone up by at least two degrees. This has caused Tsunami's and flooding in regions that are not accustomed to this.
Here in Iowa, our winter season gets pushed farther and farther back. We wear short sleeved and shorts most of November now, up to and past Thanksgiving, except for this year. Everyday more cars, planes, ships, trucks, and trains are going than ever before. In the U.S. we create over a third of the green house gasses of the world, and no matter what we say, we still buy big SUV's and the thought of carpooling is only for those who don't have a car. Few of us walk to the store that is just down the block. In the winter time it is not uncommon for cars to idle for more than 15 to 20 minutes, who wants to get in a cold car? More than 100 acres of pollution scrubbing, oxygen producing trees are destroyed without being replaced.
Global warming is real and it causes severe and often cataclysmic problems. We are now at a tipping point, that if not corrected within the next year or two will be to late to stop. Ice Sheets melting, flash floods, tidal waves, drought in formally lush areas, late and warmer winters, these are serious climate changes. If the earth had not been warmed by our actions, by our industrial revolution, these disastrous changes in our climate would not have occurred.
So my question, why is there a debate on this?
