The first step to getting to the top of any search engine is to have a website that is worth visiting. When you code your website make sure that you have meta tags within the header. When search engines crawl, they need to have these tags to more quickly find your website. If your site is worthless, some search engines might actually remove you from their listings.
Another key factor in reaching the top of engine searches is links! Visit as many guest books and similar sites as possible. The more pages that you have linking back to your website, the higher your site will be on the engine search.
Target key words within your site will boost your site to the top of the engine searches. Make sure that you have many of the same words within your site that are in the meta tags that you generated. Frequently submit your site to the search engines.
