Backlash by feminists against Oprah's support of Obama for president

It is ludicrous for feminist to get upset over Oprah Winfrey's choice for president. She has the right to support whomever she pleases. You do not vote for someone, because they are the same gender as you, any more than you should vote for someone simply because they are the same race as you. If feminist are that dumb, then by their own logic, Oprah Winfrey was a black person long before she became a woman.

Senator Barack Obama is a fine candidate. He deserves more respect than some people give him. It's as though some think, how dare he run? His time has come. Hillary Clinton is a fine candidate too, but she's already been to the White House. I do not think that America needs a husband/wife presidency any more than we needed a father/son presidency. (Get real.) What is the appeal of a pseudo-dynasty?

Could it be that America still does not really want a woman or a black person as president? But then it would rather have a woman instead of a black person? Why do we have to be this shallow? Feminist should do some soul searching. What gives them the right to think that they can speak for, or represent all women? There are plenty of women who support Barack Obama. Are the feminist going to get angry with all of them? If so, what does that say about them?

I am glad that Oprah Winfrey has the courage of her convictions and stands up for whatever she believes in. If a few feminist are upset, then boo-hoo! She was a supporter of Senator Obama before he ever announced his candidacy. He will make a fine president.

For those people who can't get past the issue of race, black versus white and cannot decide which is better; vote for Obama. He is both. (Make it easy on yourself.) Seriously, listen to what the candidates have to say. Make a responsible choice. Think about who has the best chance to beat the opposition. Democrats habitually sabotage themselves, by not seeing the bigger picture. This is no time to be pitting race against gender.

It is especially no time for feminist to hop on high horses and try to interfere with freedom of choice in matters of voting. Just because a person is a high profile celebrity should not make them a target for others. Feminists should be ashamed of themselves for even thinking that they had the right to even try and dictate Oprah's choice. They should just vote their own choice and leave other people alone. To rally for your choice of a candidate is fine, but to create a backlash is bordering on hysteria. To be perceived as intelligent women you cannot engage in this kind of behavior.
