Why you might want to loose yourself in Lost.
First thing's first, who isn't sick of all the reality shows on TV. Every night I am flipping through the channels looking for something with some sort of interest to watch. Of course i do like myself a little American Idol, but I like to have some great acting and visual effects capturing my attention in full. Reality shows are just a hit and miss playing in the background as I fold clothes or clean dishes. Enough of this already. Let's get back our treasured shows with great content.
I've been watching the show Lost now for all it's three seasons and them some. It's great to get on-line and chat about all it's theories and mysteries. I'm not normally the nerdish chat room site on goer, but this show has me hooked. The chemistry between Jack, Kate, and Sawyer is uncanny. I love the way Ben creeps me out with his devilish ways. I like the craziness of polar bears in the jungle and Smokey the monster lurking about. And what about this new character Jacob. The ghostly being that only Ben and now John Locke can see. Who the heck is that? What ever happened to Walt and Michael, who were given a boat to escape the island? Oh yes, the island, let's not leave that out. So many mysteries are alive here. No one can get pregnant and survive on this island. The Losties seems to loose their cancers and impairments. John can walk again. What about the visions on the island. They seem to come out of nowhere.
Flash forwards and flashbacks keep us on our tip toes don't they. We have to look for every single easter egg that may be strategically placed in each scene. I love searching out those clues. What other show does that for you? What show satisfies your need for romance, action, and comedy all in the same episode? So every Thursday night I will be sitting on my couch with the dirty dishes piled in the sick and the laundry unfolded. I need to be learning why John is acting crazy and what the others are up to.
Thankfully for me there are various websites that recap the show for me in la-mens terms. I would have missed many important connections and easter eggs had it not been for these sites. They are impervious to watching the show. They include things like freeze framed shots of Smokey and Korean translations that you may want to know. They also tell us what book experts were mirrored in the show's episodes. And don't get me started on the infamous numbers.
So do I have you lost yet?
