Understanding the appeal of Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a role playing game that pre-teens, teens, young adults and even older adults can indulge in and enjoy. Dungeons & Dragons used to be strictly for the young at heart and offline. Neighborhood groups or school groupies would gather together several times a week to play Dungeons & Dragons. Now enthusiasts can even play Dungeons & Dragons on line.

Dungeons & Dragons is a role playing game that enables the players to create wizards, warriors and rogues. These mighty characters engage in various competition with magic and skill to conquer various tasks and goals. Because Dungeons & Dragons requires several people to play and you build up your characters and items, it is a game that leads to a tight knit social circle. Many players of Dungeons & Dragons have gotten together for years to continue a game! Many of the new players do not realize that Dungeons & Dragons started approximately 30 years ago.

Dungeons & Dragons consists of the dungeon master who referees the game, controls the narration and essentially is the leader of the group. Some groups keep only one dungeon master while others take turns and swap around. There are monster guides, core rule books and players guide for Dungeons & Dragons so that everyone is on the same playing field. This makes the game appealing because it is consistent to follow while still providing a creative, role play for the Dungeons & Dragons players.

With the advent of the computer and social groups on line, Dungeons & Dragons is now expanded world wide. Players from all over the world can meet on line to play Dungeons & Dragons and form a social network. It is a creative, role playing without having to leave the comfort of your home. If you don't have driving accessibility or know of a game already present in your community, now there are many on line groups in which you can join a Dungeons & Dragons team.

Dungeons & Dragons provides a chance to meet other people. It also provides a chance to escape reality for a little while and role play. You can put to use your creative juices in a non-harmful way to enjoy this game. In addition, there is less one on one competition in Dungeons & Dragons then in say board games or other non-role playing games. Dungeons & Dragons give one a chance to show off and display their role playing skills and creativity.
