Perfume reviews: Christina Aguilera

In recent years, celebrities have been expanding their individual empires in fresh new ways. Hollywood stars are no longer just actors or singers, they're also producers, directors, fashion designers, authors, and, most recently, perfumers. She may have gotten her start singing alongside pop rival Britney Spears on the Disney Channel's 1990s revival of The Mickey Mouse Club, but today, critically acclaimed songstress Christina Aguilera is just one of many other Hollywood stars attempting to branch out and expand her empire. How so? Why, by releasing her own signature fragrance, of course!

Aguilera's debut scent is aptly named after herself, Christina Aguilera. Aguilera is marketing the fragrance as a sexy, sophisticated, and, above all, glamorous. Perhaps this is an attempt to solidify her post-"Dirrty" image, perhaps it's just another way to make a couple of extra bucks on the side. In any case, the perfume is actually a very well put together concoction of aromas that includes jasmine and blackcurrant tea. While the jasmine scents are certainly reminscent of many of the floral fragrances out on the market today, I must admit that the blackcurrant tea undertone do add a little something extra to this perfume.

Indeed, like many of the other celebrity launched perfumes, Christina Aguilera is fresh, fruity, and floral. In fact, it is not so very different from Britney Spears' own line of floral fragrances. Yet again we find that the Aguilera - Spears rivalry is set ablaze again, this time in the perfume industry. But, the bottom line is, this scent does stand (at least a bit) apart from its competitors. What I liked most about it, however, had to be the packaging. Keeping up the sophisticated and sexy theme, Aguilera's perfume is packaged in a pretty pale pink with soft black lace designs for accents. It's young, it's fresh, and it will certainly stick with you throughout the day and well into the evening. Of course, like any other fragrances, I must warn you, personal preferences are the key. Each individual woman has distinct tastes, and when it comes to perfume, this is no different. Even still, check out Christina Aguilera the next time you're in the fragrance department of your local department store. You amy be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
