Poetry: Being grumpy

HOW YOU CHEER ME

Downtrodden from the daily mines,
I hope you raise my mood.
Your grin, it mirrors Frankenstein's
With Ahab's attitude.

How you cheer me,
When you're near me,
You endear me
As you jeer me.

My countenance does quickly fall,
To see your cheery side.
For you've left Jekyll in the hall
To favor Mr. Hyde.

How you cheer me,
When you're near me,
You endear me
As you jeer me.

Like Iago, you deny my heart,
With sarcasm and ease,
Your, bitterness, a form of art
As Mephistopheles.

How you cheer me,
When you're near me,
You endear me
As you jeer me.

I'd like to simply turn the page,
This title is a bore.
Another volume might assuage
Your joy thief's roar for more.

How you cheer me,
When you're near me,
You endear me
As you jeer me.

Let's try a different angle now,
A bestseller to go.
So stash your skinny sacred cow
In your portfolio.
