if your baby is crying, you will hear them. Unless you are outside with earplugs in, you will hear the cries of hunger or pain.
Bottle Warmers: These are a huge waste of money. You can sit a bottle in a cup of warm water if you really want to warm a bottle. Room temperature formula or cold formula will not harm your baby.
Diaper Genie: A lot of people swear by the diaper genie or similar disposable system. However sometimes they simply do not control the odor like they claim too. I have found that putting soiled diapers in a plastic grocery bag and sticking them in the garbage does better than twisting in a fancy diaper system.
Baby Tub: These are nice but in the first few months you can wash baby in the sink. After that you can use a baby bath seat or something of similar fashion. Babies usually outgrow the fancy tubs rather fast.
Sleep Positioners: I have three children and all three of them were able to wiggle their way out of these by 4 weeks of age. If you really want to ensure baby stays on their back, then roll up blankets and tuck them under their sides. If your baby still rolls over, which usually by 4mos of age they will anyway, then chances are they will be fine in the crib.
First time parents really need to see what does and does not work for them. Of course a list of things I think are essential, another mom may say is not. It all depends on the parent and their needs and what works for them.
Good Luck.
