There used to be a lady down my street when I was a little girl who had lots of cats and she pushed them around in a rusty, mangled old buggy. She was a proper 'cat lady' who just seemed to collect cats. She had more and more every time I saw her. I always wondered if she had any friends and family that weren't feline. I was in awe of this eccentric cat lover but at the same time I said to myself that I would never become that crazy cat lady. However, I think I did just that, I now have 15 of the little darlings and would have many more if lived in a huge mansion.
I started off with Cookie, a ginger tabby who is now in his 7th year. I knew an old man who found this sweet little kitten in the street and after a visit to the vets it was discovered that he was only around 4 weeks old. Nobody had reported a kitten missing so he decided to look after the kitten rather than him just being in a cage in an an animal shelter. At around 5 and a half weeks Cookie came to live with me as the old man was quite ill. He didn't actually get the name 'Cookie' until about 6 weeks. I was trying to think a name that suited his markings. I thought about marmalade, socks (he has white feet), ginger; then one evening I offered my mum a cookie and he came running so it stuck with him.
Two years later came Guiness and Murphy - two black Burmese kittens who got their names simply because they looked like a pint of Guiness or Murphys. They each had a light golden patch on their heads which has now gone and they are jet black. They came from another crazy cat lady who I had gone to buy a rabbit from. She said her cat had just had babies and when I saw them it was love at first sight. I visited them every week until they were able to leave their mother. About a fortnight later I got a call from this lady asking if I could take another two of them temporarily as the man who had them was ill. Of course I agreed but then they became permanent fixtures as the man was an alcoholic who was not feeding them as he never had any money. Salem is also jet black and got her name as she is just like the cat from 'Sabrina the teenage witch' and has the characteristics of the cat as well. Tatie Spudkins is a Tri-colour Burmese whose name is just a random name I though of. I have four of that litter of five. The fifth lives with the daughter of the breeder.
Around 18months - 2years, Tatie Spudkins gave birth to three beautiful kittens which I decided I could not part with, Super Stu got her name from someone
