Best online job search engines and how to use them

you are looking for, and it's very easy to upload a resume that you've written before.

I recommend that you "Renew" your resume on Monster.com often. Usually what happens is that after a 90 days of not renewing your resume, it falls off searches when an employer is looking for potential employees. It's very easy to renew your resume once its uploaded and all you have to do is click on your resume, and when the list of your resumes comes up, you click the "Renew" link.

Monster.com also offers emails that list new job posting in your area, as well as newsletters that give informative articles about different job related topics such as good resume writing, how to talk to your boss about problems at work, and I've even read an article from Monster about knowing when to quit your job.

Yahoo! HotJobs

This search engine is very similar to Monster.com in that is allows you to upload your resume to help employers find you. Yahoo allows up to 10 unique resumes compared to Monster.com's five which is great. This search engine is perfect for you if you already have a Yahoo account for email. You simply sign into Yahoo! HotJobs with you Yahoo ID and you're ready to go.

The greatest benefit of HotJobs is its features. HotJobs offers some great tools to help you with your career such as a salary calculator that tells you how much money you should be making for a job based on where you live and what others are making. This is a great tool to help negotiate your pay or a pay raise! If you're not sure what you want to do for a career, you can always take a free Career Assessment test that offered by Yahoo! HotJobs. Just click the "Career Tools" tab to find these great features.

CareerBuilder.com

Care erBuilder.com is like the love child of Indeed and Monster. It aggregates many, many, many, job postings from all kinds of web sites, but also allows users to post their resume as well. This web site may offer the best of both worlds for the person who is looking for one site to handle their job search needs.

Possibly the greatest benefit of CareerBuilder is the fact that it is owned by several newspapers. This site allows you search newspaper want ads in addition to online job postings to broaden your search even more.

CareerBuilder offers great resume features like a free resume critique which can really help discover if your resume is lacking something crucial. They even allow you to create a video resume so you can truly give a personal touch to your resume!

Like Indeed, you can also create an account with CareerBuilder and save your job listings, as well as receive alerts in your inbox about new job listings that have been posted.

CraigsList.org

CraigsLis t is a classified advertisement web site which isn't a job search engine in a traditional sense, but offers a great way for you to find new job classifieds in your area.

It's very easy to respond and create your own classifieds. Craigslist works using your email. The site generates its own special email address that forward replies to your real email address. This is to ensure your privacy.

I've used CraigsList a lot to find jobs and clients. The cool thing about creating your own classified advertisement listing your job services, is that people respond to you looking for your help! This is a terrific way for freelance designers to find clients to work for.

As a person who's tried all these sites to find new jobs, I highly recommend giving them a shot. Good luck in your search!
