When working with Feng shui in the bedroom it does not really matter if you are single, in a long term relationship or married, the amount of time you spend in the bedroom is vast. It is not all sleeping time either. It is where we escape to when the day has been long. For many, it is where we curl up with a good book. Ultimately it is the room we want most all to be able to relax in and settle down for peaceful sleep. When thinking about feng shui in the bedroom there are some different things we need to consider that do not apply to other rooms necessarily. Since this is the place where wish to be relaxed, it also a place that must feel safe and protected.
Some basic tips on creating a Feng Shui environment for your bedroom:
The bed should be diagonally as far as possible from the entrance of the room, however, it should also be placed so that when lying in bed you can see whomever enters without getting up.
If you have open beams, hang bamboo chimes from them to help eliminate shars from your space.
If you are going to hang a mirror in the bedroom, use a round shaped one. It is thought to enhance relationships.
A live green plant in the bedroom can stimulate energy and help with the flow of the ch'i in the room.
To help the flow of ch'I be sure not to clutter beneath your bed, it will disturb the flow that surrounds your bed.
If you can arrange your room so that the first thing you see in the morning is a beautiful sunrise from your window all the better. If you do not have that luxury, hang a large picture that you can focus on in the morning when you wake up. It starts the day off all the better with the positive flow of energy.
A word about colors - if you are going to paint try and use the colors that correspond to your element. Fire - green. Earth - red. Metal - yellow. Water - white. Wood - blue. If your room does not match your element coloring, add accents everywhere in the room to bring your element color in. This is especially true in a relationship. Be sure to use both colors in the scheme to help both find the serenity of the room.
Just remember in whatever you do, the flow of energy can start with you. If you start the day with a positive peaceful thought then end your day with a soft calming thought. You can do this by eliminating the dirty laundry piled up in the room. Remove anything that has to do with work that may catch your eye in the morning. Most importantly keep all design schemes simple. This is most important in the bedroom.
