What is this resistance to the word, idea, and concept of equality? So much has been won and lost in this world because of this more than simple concept. The real problem with equality is that it is never used as a solution but leverage. Math seems to go out of the window when it comes to divvying up the goods. This ever impending balancing act ensues.

I watch my Sister spring from her slumber. She takes care of early morning activities and heads out of the door to join the rat pack on the way to the office. My Brother across the complex yard does the same thing. In fact they share the same executive elevator to reach their perspective cubicle. The assignment for all in this department is the same. They do the work.

Across town I see another Sister peel herself from the sheets. She too takes care of her morning activities. My Brother downstairs in the first floor apartment does the same thing. In fact the get on the same subway car. They go though the same factory employee entrance. They begin their work on the same line. They do the work.

Is that not simple enough? Is that not crystal clear? Maybe it's me. Are my lenses foggy?

It is incredible that there is a rationale for not paying them equally for the same work. The rationale is based in dishonesty and discrimination. That is a pseudo-glowing report for any nation. It is one of the lowest forms of oppression. I wonder where in the history of the United Sates of America that this concept was so visibly institutionalized. Ummm.

It has to be a priority for the United States to be required to provide equal pay for men and women. As a world leader it speaks the loudest about democracy and liberty. If the United States is to present to the world about the fair treatment of citizens, then it must correct its own errors. The past injustices can not be changed. The present and the future can fulfill the promise for which we stand. U.S. companies should not be allowed to work outside of the laws of this nation or its creed. The message should speak loud and clear that the practice of inequality towards any group or individual will not be tolerated.
