Postpartum or postnatal depression sometimes occurs with childbirth. In severe cases where postpartum depression interferes with normal functions, medication and therapy are suggested.

Depression treatment typically involves therapy and a change in behavioral patterns. Sleeping aids are frequently prescribed for those suffering from sleep disorders. Depression medications include antidepressants which unfortunately have several side effects such as fatigue, uneasiness, and general feelings of sickness.

The most commonly prescribed depression medications include, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Serzone and Marplan. Therapy has shown to be very effective in helping patients develop a more realistic and positive attitude. Electro-convulsive therapy is a treatment option for extreme cases.

Clinical depression and manic depression are treatable conditions. There have been several studies on depression, providing many helpful and informative resources. Depression treatments have made marked advancement in depression medications so there is absolutely no reason for it to go untreated.

However, if you suffer depression, please know that there is someone who knows everything you're going through and He cares very much. Jesus Christ healed the sick, allowed the blind to see, and the lame to walk. It's difficult to know why we suffer, but it is written that He cares and that He will help us in times of need.

"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Heb. 4:15)
