When it comes to defining what makes a man sexy, it is hard to condense the answer into one statement, as it is a question that is most likely to have a subjective answer. However, it could be narrowed down, depending from which angle you are looking at.

If you follow the media, the standards for what make a man sexy change with the decades. For example, in the earlier part of the 20th century, men were not even called sexy. However, the image that was marketed then was that of well-dressed gentlemen, that never left their homes without hats and always opened doors for ladies.

By the 1970s, after many changes of appearances and styles, a sexy man was defined by tight pants, long hair, skinny rock star body, and open shirt. Nowadays it is short hair, loose and low pants, muscles, and a smile that shows you can afford to pay for it.

Is that what women really think makes a man sexy though? If you ask around, you will get probably as many answers as there are women, but mainly the general opinion does differ from what the media portrays. "Regular" women like an all-around package. Answers usually range from expressive eyes, to a caring personality, to attitude - and everything in between.

Most women would also agree that a man who has very physically appealing traits, yet lacks character, respect or kindness, becomes unattractive and hence not sexy.

What about men? What do they think makes a man sexy? This may seem like a strange question, but just as women compare themselves to each other, so do men. To try to answer this question, I will rely on the answers given to me by my male friends.

When you ask men this question, they will likely give two answers: What they find is appealing, and what they think women find sexy. The men I questioned told me that on the outside a body that is in good shape is attractive, and that is nothing to do with weight. This means to be in good control of your diet, as well as working out. Ironically, they also told me that they think since calves are harder to form muscles on than the upper body, it's an indicator of how attractive a man is on the outside.

As far as personality and what makes a man sexy on the inside, the answers I was given included that a man does not need to tell his woman much in words, but rather show her through actions that he cares. This includes trying to solve her problems and make suggestions for her to implement. In essence it means if a man takes good care of "his" woman, a woman should think of him as sexy.
