Well really, when one is talking to oneself, that is called a monologue. When one is conversing it usually involves two or more participants. So for all intents and purposes a conversation with yourself involves you standing in two distinct positions...whether opposing or in agreement...and then you must share with yourself that knowledge you feel you possess.
Conversations with myself often involve intense thought and the occasional question or answer stated out loud to anyone who may be listening...namely me because I'm often alone when I have conversations with myself...
They are usually discussions that involve lessons I have been learning of late. On occasion I feel that I am trying to tell myself something through dreams and subconscious signals...so I ask myself what is going on in my world. After many long and in depth conversations I often find myself with an peaceful and wonderful answer to my query.
I have conversed with myself over the meaning of life. I came to realize that part of me believes the meaning of life doesn't exist at all and that people are asking a question with no answer. That part of me says that the whole point of life is to just exist and to be and what else is there. The other part of me agrees, but states that to exist and be is a meaning and can be meaningful on an individual basis...so it therefore, must be the meaning of life. I agree with both my points and think they are equally valid and understandable. Though sometimes I am not always so agreeable.
Take for example the fact that in my personal beliefs it is wrong to eat food that comes from animals. I personally believe that their exploitation, torture, and murder is a disgusting practice with no real need besides desire and gluttony. There are plenty of other alternatives that are in many ways much healthier than eating animal products. I do not eat animal flesh, fish and chickens are animals by the way, but I do still eat dairy. I don't eat eggs, but sometimes eat products with egg in it. I disgust myself then, according to my own beliefs...right? I am a hypocrite, at least that is what I end up telling myself. An argument inevitably ensues. I explain to myself that it is very difficult to lead a strict, or even mildly followable, vegan diet on my budget and time constraints. I don't have time to cook, and I don't have the money for all the wonderful and yummy vegan ingredients out there. So I end up eating stuff with gelatin, cheese, milk and animal proteins on the odd

I definitely have conversations with myself. If the truth were to be known, I would bet that most people also talk to themselves.
