The most thoughtful baby shower gifts are the ones that are useful. That cute picture frame might be expensive, but how useful is it when the nursery is already overflowing with gifts? Gifts that parents can actually use for the baby are the best gifts by far.

Are you looking for inexpensive baby shower gifts? Finding a thoughtful gift for the expectant mother isn't that difficult. From experience, I know what I really appreciated receiving, and as a mother, here's the list on what mothers need:

DIAPERS
There are never enough diapers. From size 1 to size 5, you can help a new mom's budget by buying her diapers. If the child outgrows the size, and mom has several unopened packages, she can return them for a larger size.

WIPES
Wipes are used daily to wipe off messy bottoms and to quickly clean up spills. A large box can last over one month.

BATH SUPPLIES
Shampoo, soap, lotion, and powder last a long time. You can buy Johnson and Johnson products in a basket with a lavender scent. I personally loved this gift.

CLOTHING
Looking for matching socks is sometimes a chore. Purchase socks that are all the same color for busy parents. When you purchase clothing for the baby, leave the tags on the clothes and give the receipt with the gift. If the baby outgrows the outfit, mom can return it for a larger size.

BLANKETS
Receiving blankets and quilts are over-gifted. After my baby was born, I received so many blankets as gifts that I have no place to put them all! With a laugh, I told myself: at least he'll never be cold. Unless the blanket is a special handmade quilt from Grandmother, don't give store-bought blankets. Only give them if the mother requests them.
