me and her head nestled gently against my cheek. Being careful not to disturb her, I stretched awkwardly to reach the ashtray and fully extinguish the last embers of the cigarette. "I just worry about you. That's all." I whispered followed by a soft kiss to her forehead. "I love you."
"I love you too." She said. I watched the words leave her mouth as a subtle trail of smoke stalked them into the night like a wolf trailing its prey. After another kiss, I rested my head on the mattress and joined her in staring at the glow-in-the-dark stars dotting the ceiling. It was dark enough now that we could pretend we were lying beneath an ideal night sky. I started to imagine we were somewhere far away. The mattress beneath us became a white sand beach. The four walls around us became the coast line and the horizon. Her soft breathe became the oceans gentle breeze. I watched the moon lead the stars in a graceful dance across the sky as their reflections swayed in the waves to the rhythm of the sea. As her arms tightened around me, the ocean and stars quickly became the walls and ceiling once again. I responded with a kiss to the air, hoping it would find its mark. "Funny huh? Oh, I'll show you funny!" Her appendages seemed to know exactly what I was implying and tried their hardest to stand guard. I came at her from both fronts and dug my fingers into her sides. She burst into wild laughter, squirming and wriggling her hardest to try and break free of my tickling grip. Her hands realized that staying on the defensive was a losing battle and made a lunge for my arm pits. We both flailed uncontrollably refusing to let the other claim victory. Finally we collapsed in exhaustion, both convinced the other had given in. I crawled closer to her as she tried to catch her breath and kissed her on the forehead as I struggled to hide the fact that I was doing the same.
"See, if you didn't smoke, you wouldn't be gasping for air right now." I said smugly as I wrapped her up in my arms. She laughed
