War on Iraq: No blaze of glory for the U.S

The United States is now forced into a position to which it is impossible to win wars in the historical definition of the word. This is a bi-product of many factors within developing modern society, the current views on standards and media access weighing havily precludes complete success in such conflicts before any action has begun. The dissolusion of an imperlialist world upon the end of World War II created a different world forum.

Countries during the time of European power throughout the world were judged by their hold on other less developed nations, and therefore any attempted uprising could be quelled with most any means at a nation's disposal, without too much ramification in the international community. At the end of the second world war the balance of power shifted. The United States was now the major power in an world torn to mostly rubble. The major European powers forced to focus all efforts on rebuilding themselves accepted the idea to allow solidarity to most of the developing areas they formerly controlled. This idea of self-government is obviously a step forward in the moral field of world politics, but impacted peacekeeping in world politics in a negative way. A nation that is no longer the charge of a more dominant power is not fair game to be fully acted upon, the Early effects of this would be the restrictions within the Korean conflict that eventually ended up in the entire "war" ending in a cease-fire, a treaty that declared the war never officially over. Limits in the conflict can be furthered in the police action as the Vietnam War was officially deemed. This is because with the world's situation an actual war would not be accepted within the era of self-governing. The conflict was not looked down upon by NATO powers because they viewed it as a strike against the Eastern Bloc powers of communism, therefore it was tolerated but not particularly supported.
The United States was forced to fight a limited war that decided the eventual fate of the conflict, no strikes were allowed into North Vietnam or Cambodia, putting the United States into a position of holding its ground fighting only when the Northern Vietnamese chose, and when a fight was not favorable, they could retreat back into the untouchable areas where the United States could not pursue. The full military might could not be brought to sway as their was no centralized area that was within the alloweable strike zone. Technology becomes useless when it has no way to be implemented.
