Martin Luther King Jr. :
Martin was a active member of the Executive Committee of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The very first Negro non violent demonstration was lead by Martin, with a record breaking 382 days. Martin, being a pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, allowed him the speaking skills needed to drive home the injustice of segregation. On December 21, 1956, The Supreme Court declared that segregation was unconstitutional, therefore whites and colored people rode the same bus as equals. King suffered tremendously, as the out spoken leader of the Negro people; he was arrested several times and his house was bombed. Martin keep his head held high no matter how much adversity he received, he traveled over 6 million miles and he spoke over 25 times. King wrote the "I Have a Dream" speech while he was incarcerated in Birmingham jail. Martin delivered his dialog to 250,000 people on the steps of the White House, in Washington D.C. Martin Luther King had great admiration for the state that his people were in and he worked hard to improve the lives of all mankind. The destruction of African American People, finally reached the Nobel Peace Prize Winner, on April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated while on the balcony of his hotel room, in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Legacy of these two colossal leaders, are indeed, one in the same. Malcolm X had a militant mind and Martin Luther King Jr. had a militant attitude. Nonetheless, they both fought for ethnic discrimination and to break down the bars of modern day slavery. Martin and Malcolm were key figures in mobilizing the equal opportunity that minorities have today. Hopefully, Malcolm X will be given a day in memory of his role in the black movement.
Although, they both had different solution on ending racism; their fate remain the same. Assassinated!
