Poetry: First love

Childhood Lovers

I love how we can spend hours
Talking about life and philosophy
And then just sit together in comfortable
Silence for the next ten minutes

I love how we can go from talking
About past relationships and what they meant
To finding the best pick-up lines
In knock-knock jokes

I love how you can make me happy
As much as you did eight years ago
And how we can laugh at the
Same things we did in fourth grade

I love how you don't even have to try at all
And I still think you're the most incredible person
I've ever had the fortune of knowing

I love your honesty and loyalty,
Your kindness and your charm
And the way you don't mind me
Parading around through your wallet

I love how you can look at me the same
After every shameful story I've told
And not judge me even a little bit

Because you knew me when I was at my purest
You knew me when I was the best me I've ever been
And I love how you bring that out in me again
