Reflections: Bad luck

My Bad Luck Day

On April of this past year, is when it all began. It would have to be the rainiest morning for me to take my son to school. The winds were up and a tornado possibility was in the midst. This is a problem living in the south, and we live on the coast, which especially does makes spring time rough weather. It was one of those mornings and I was late leaving , of course, and so was every other parent in our community.(Why does it always work out that way on messy days?) Long lines at the school, were not bad enough, but there was a slow trail back to our neighborhood, of cars waiting to turn in the road closest to the school, along with me in the rear.

Now this was not the worst part of the morning. It continues with it being a garbage day. The trucks were out also on our one lane road through our forest community. But, me being me, this is has become my an upside of the day, at least I am thinking so. I admit it. People throw away the darnedest things. I do not mean garbage bags, but furniture. We have two desks, a computer keyboard, our headboard on our bed, a bookcase a bedside table, a lamp,a saw, a bicycle, and a wooden cabinet hanging on the wall in our bathroom, all thanks to garbage days. On Thursdays, I try to drive the truck, in case there is something we can use. Even though there was traffic jams, threats of tornadoes, I still carried on through a few streets looking for something we can use. Rain began, I strive on, looking for treasure.

Behold, there was a large piece of glass for a window pane, and we just happen to have a broken window from last week's lawn mowing, thanks to my boy. I parked on the medium and crossed over, only to find it was much to heavy for me to even pick up, oh well. It's pouring rain. I went back to my truck, empty handed, ready to give it up and go home. The rain made me look down as I rushed back, just to see in the green grass, a roll of twenty dollar bills, wet of course. I picked it up quickly and went home. I laid them out to dry, there was five of them, making it one hundred dollars. No wallet, no ID, I found this in the medium of the road. I did not know what to do. I figured I would first get a shower and dry out some. When I came back, a lot drier now, I called my husband. He said that it may be counterfeit, I should turn it in. If I try to spend it, and it was counterfeit, no one at a police station would believe me if I said I found it on the side of the road somewhere. He
