For some, sleeping can be quite a disappointment. I mean, who wants to toss and turn in the middle of the night with uncomfortable sleeping patterns, am I right? Well the answer is simple; sleeping disorders can be easily summed up as being all psychological. The main reason people may think that they suffer from insomnia may be because they have such a strong belief that they suffer from sleep deprivation, that in essence, turns into reality. From personal experience, there are ways to prevent such strong symptoms of sleep deprivation. I personally like to call them the "5 Steps to Proper Sleep." The first step that I like to talk about is making sure that you keep your body nice, and hydrated throughout that day. This means drinking large amounts of water on a frequent basis. This allows your body to properly function and allow you to sleep soundly throughout the night. The second step I like to talk about is proper stretches before you go to bed at night, and accordingly when you wake up in the morning. As corny as this may sound, allowing your body to reach its ultimate relax point is key, and to do this you must provide it with frequent stretching. The Third step I like to talk about is knowing when to ultimately put your body to rest. This means you must know when your body wants to go to sleep. Never fight this drowsy feeling that may occur. Delaying sleep will only cause more frequent awakenings during the night. The fourth step to achieve proper sleep is making sure your body is fit, and healthy. Exercising can be key in the goal of reaching nights sleep. How do you expect your body to rest calmly and collectively if you treat it as if it were a dumping ground? Exercise at least 3 times a week for at least 25 minutes each cycle. Try to integrate cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular activities in-between these fitness cycles. The last tip I have to offer on the struggle of proper slumber is to diet right and avoiding late night snacking. It has been proven that more frequent, late-night snacking leads to bad-dreams, bathroom trips in the middle of the night, and/or frequent awakenings in the night.
