Cosmetic giant Coty first launched their Darling by Kylie Minogue fragrance in November 2006 in Australia to coincide with the beginning of Kylie's Showgirl Homecoming tour.

Darling by Kylie Minogue has a sweet floral fragrance of freesia and lilies. It avoids the heady and sickly sweet aroma that often accompanies floral perfumes with base notes of sandalwood, amberwood and vanilla.

Celebrity endorsed perfumes make it easier for the cosmetic companies to market. They align the fragrance notes with the celebrity's persona. The sweet and sexy Kylie Minogue has a fragrance to match. Coty promotes this very feminine fragrance as being as multi-faceted as Kylie herself.

The girl from Down Under, Kylie Minogue first hit Australian TV screens in a singing showcase called "Young Talent Time". She went on to play the nice girl-next-door character Charleen in a TV soap called "Neighbours" which became an enormous hit series in the United Kingdom being shown twice a day.

Minogue moved from Australia to Britain and piggy backed her singing career on the stardom she'd gained from the "Neighbours" phenomenon even though she had long since left the show.
In the late 80's Minogue topped the UK music charts with songs like "Locomotion" and "I Should Be So Lucky" produced by Stock, Aitkin and Waterman, the British song writers and producers known as the Hit Factory for the amount of similar sounding pop hits they churned out.

This was the beginning of what was to become the multi-faceted Kylie. Affectionately known in Australia as "the singing budgie" she was now a pop princess and became the darling of the gay scene.

In an attempt to shed the "girl next door" image, she dated rock's bad boy and INXS lead singer, the now late Michael Hutchence. She left the Stock, Aitkin and Waterman stable and the sugary sweet songs for a soulful duet with fellow Australian musician Nick Cave.

The fragrance of Darling by Kylie Minogue also has a sensual oriental undertone which comes from the fruity hints of passion-fruit and lychee with baronia and musky sandalwood. Although the emergence of Kylie's sensual side wasn't understated in any way.

Her self-reinvention came in the late 90's. Emerging as just "Kylie" she'd not only exchanged her Aussie accent for a British one but her music was more dance than pop. The girl-next door was long gone and replaced by a pop diva in sexy skimpy costumes with video's edging on soft porn.

However, sex sells and it certainly has for Kylie's now famous hot panted bottom. She has not only put her name to a fragrance but also the lingerie line Love Kylie.

Being better known in Australia and the UK, you won't find Darling by Kylie Minogue in Macy's but it is available on-line.
