swelter poles, say the
cars and plastic bottles
swelter and melt, drop
your ivory beasts to
drown in pools
that were
solid
just a breath before
convenience exacts a terrible price
for those who can afford
to shuffle
the bill on to
children unborn
or still pink and
unaware
the waters are
getting higher
and hotter
and closer
knocking at our doors
like the taxman
your
debt
is
due
it says
