Los Angeles, California
The familiar places are still there. The Hollywood Sign, Graumans Chinese Theatre, and Sunset Strip. Try to visit Echo Park, and The Museum of Tolerance, kids 5-18 $10.00, and adults $13.00. You might want to take a tour of The American Film Institute campus, or stop by the Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Gardens at the UCLA campus. There is also the Library of Congress, and the Los Angeles Zoo. Accommodations: Steal $99.00, to Splurge $525.00.

Anchorage, Alaska
Alaska means "Great Land", and there are some great things to do in Anchorage, Alaska. You could try panning for gold at The Indian Valley Mine. Buckets range from $3.00-$50.00, depending on if you want gold flakes, or nuggets. Try your hand at Whitewater rafting, on a trip with a guide, from the Alaska Kayak Academy, $95.00 a person. Visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, but be prepared to walk, kids 4-12 & seniors $5.00, adults $7.50. Accommodations: Steal $90.00, to Splurge $150.00.

Branson, Missouri
Of course, there are the shows, and attractions. But what else is in Branson? Well there is the Branson Entertainment Hall of Fame, admission is free. Take in dinner, and a show on the Showboat Branson Belle, admission depends on which show you want to see. If you enjoy nature, go see the fish hatch, and grow at the Shepard of The Hills Fish Hatchery Conservation Center, admission is free. Accommodations: Steal $65.00, to Splurge $129.00. There are also many resort packages, that include admission to area attractions.

San Antonio, Texas
This is a personal favorite to go on vacation. Aside from the obvious choices, The Alamo, The Riverwalk, and The Governors Mansion, there are plenty of other things to do in San Antonio. Walk around the city, and visit the shops at Market Square. Mi Tierra Cafe, and Bakery has some of the best Mexican food, and baked goods. Have the Mariachis serenade you while you eat. You could visit Sea World San Antonio, admission for kids $42.99, and adults $50.99 (save 10% when you buy online). Something to consider though, the city is quite crowded during NBA March Madness, and Spring Break. Accommodations: Steal $99.00, or Splurge $245.00.

Your Own Home Town
If you are on a strict budget this year, why not try vacationing in your own home town. Walk around, take pictures, visit the local hang outs, but look at things like a tourist would. Check out the Historical Markers in your town, or take a scenic drive. You never know what you could learn, right in your home town.

Remember to enjoy each others company, and to have fun. If you travel by car, you may want to take a favorite CD, or books on tape, to help pass the time. When traveling with kids, please remember to bring snacks, and plenty of things to do while traveling. Enjoy, and relax, you're on vacation!
