The irony of a topic on creative ways to show your boyfriend/husband you love him is that men, for the most part, prefer predictable or tried-and-true to creativity. So crafty things like posters, balloons or candy trails - what he would probably think of as something out of a chick flick, tend to appeal to feminine romantic notions rather than men's. But there are certainly no lack of ideas for a girlfriend or wife to create a special day, it just comes down to being careful to remember that what they are doing is not necessarily what they would want for themselves.
Men aren't complicated that way. They would be perfectly happy in a stable relationship without all o the extra displays that come with romantic holidays and anniversaries. So they are the ones that have to go out of their comfort zones to get us the chocolates and do the poems and the cards. But the reason they do it is to get more of what they usually want more of - us.
So when I am planning something special for my husband, who I have known for over twenty years now, I start early trying to think of the things that he would like the best, even if they are totally unexciting or unromantic to me. And I have to often hold my nose because they don't seem like the way to celebrate a romantic holiday to me as a woman; but they are the ones that if any of you are truly trying to win over the hart of a man, will work like the proverbial charm.
One of my first plans is to do the things around the house that he has given those subtle reminders he would like to see me pay more attention to. I make sure the bills are in place, that I have taken his car for an oil change, and that everything is in order with the kids. Every once in a while he has given me those 'to do' lists and for special occasions I make sure all the items are crossed off. Men tend to stress about their affairs as the providers, so a night enabling him to relax will show that you sympathize and don't just consider him a nag or a fuddy-duddy. With his car cleaned, his laundry fully done, and everything in order - particularly because you DO realize it means a lot to him- he will be able to de-stress and enjoy what might come next in the day.
We have all heard that the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Most controlling-type girlfriends or wives might want their boyfriend or their husband to go out to lunch with her rather than allow him to on a week day maintain his routine and eat at work without her. But I would bet it
