Life, liberty and an SUV: Can we all live like Americans?

The SUV. What many Americans have come to call the enemy. Its quite interesting that in a city absorbed with the glitz, glamour, and whatever else signifies status, lets call this city Los Angeles, that people have rose up against the all mighty SUV. Yet, these same judgmental sports car drivers, revving their 12 valve gas guzzling Ferrari's, have somehow remained untouchable. Yet if you look at the gas mileage of the newest SUV's compared to their less utilitarian rivals, the two seat foreign sports car, there is little difference. The point being, lets not begrudge the hummer driver because he makes that choice, and say he's killing the environment. And literally write, "EARTH KILLER" in the dirt covering his rear windshield, which is actually a normal occurrence in LA. What that petty environmentalist tagger may not know, is that this particular hummer driver may have the most energy efficient home possible, and his hummer is just a little off road weekend toy that he enjoys. Not to mention SUV's provide storage, more room, towing capabilities, and can transport an entire basketball team. So when you take three of your sports cars to transport your elitist kids to their next hardwood hoops game, remember the jerk with the hummer took them all in one car, probably using less gas.

This is by no means to profess that the environment is not important, and we shouldn't take care of it, but instead the opposite. We should take care of it, and do everything in our power to protect it. But this whole judging blame game has got out of control. Now were blaming the oil companies, who like every company out there is trying to turn the biggest profit possible. We don't protest against the rich restaurateur because he owns 6 fine dining spots, and charges 38 dollars for a fillet mignon, with a side of nothing, literally just 38 dollars for 8 ounces of beef. He's just charging that much because he can, because that wealthy movie star pulling into valet in their Toyota Prius is willing to pay it, and all the while complaining about global warming over their 200 dollar bottle of pinot noir. Okay, so you may say, now I'm judging, NO, I'm not. I don't have a problem with them spending money on whatever they want, but then don't judge the oil companies. Hey, that greedy oil exec. just spent 14 dollars to see your last piece of crap that you call a movie.

We just can't blame the price of gas solely on the oil companies, make a note, I'm not saying the oil companies are perfect.
