Conversation etiquette for a first date

It's your first date with the man or woman of your dreams. Your palms are sweaty. Your mind is racing. You want to make a great impression. So, what should you talk about?

Keep Your Conversation Up.

Stay positive. Don't talk about the war in Iraq, toxic waste or the recent murder/suicide featured on TV. This type of talk will bring the conversation down to a depressing low and turn your date off.

Tell a funny joke or story.

Do you know a great (clean) joke? Is there a funny tale you can recite about your life? As long as it's not to salacious, you should tell it in order to break the ice. It'll help you and your date loosen up.

Express family love.

Are you close to a family member? Talk about it on your date. Let the other person know that you love your mother/father/sister greatly. It'll make you look attractive because the person will sense that family is important to you.

Give the goods on your job.

Whether you hate or love your job, talk about the positive in it. Talk about your great boss or the stuff you enjoy about it. The only catch with this one is to keep it under ten minutes. Why? If you spend all night talking about work, the other person will get bored and think you're a work-a-holic.

Bring up a hobby.

Be sure to bring up your hobbies during your date. It's vital because it'll give you a sense of what your hang-time' will be like with your potential boyfriend or girlfriend. If you love to bowl and that hate it, the person may not be a match for you. So talk about what you like to do on your down time in order to find out how compatible you are to your date.

Express your passion.

Are you in touch with your passion? If so, talk about it on your date. Let your date know that you are an animal lover and donate to a charity because of it. It'll help your date understand your life priorities and get excited about the type of person you are.

These are the top things to talk about on your first date. It should be easy because first dates usually aren't that long anyway. So keep your conversation light and easy.
