Setting Achievable Goals:
One way to not become discouraged, while striving to reach goals, is to set goals that are achievable.
What makes a goal achievable? There are few things to consider when thinking about this.
First, is this goal within your current skillset and experience level. If the goal is to become a professional basketball player, I'm not sure it will happen if you've never picked up a basketball.
Second, it is smart not to set goals that are totally dependent on someone else, unless you have some influence over that other person. People do not always do what they are supposed to do, it is a fact of life.
Lastly, it is important to think about a timeline. If you set your goal within a timeline, you won't have goals just hanging out there.
Setting goals is the first step to success, but they need to be realistic and achievable for them to be really helpful.
