Infection, bacteria, antibiotics, all yours for a unbeatable price of $15.00. Sound like a deal you can't refuse? I think it sounds like a deal I could certainly live without.
What am I talking about? Do I know what I am talking about? One thing is for sure I know what I am talking about, and I am talking about false nails and whether or not they are worth the money?
No I have not had an infection from having acrylic nails or any of the various other styles available. However I have had a couple of friends who have endured a lot of pain, not too mention loosing a few nails just due to the incompetence of some of the nail techs that are found in the nail salons.
One of my friends had her hands wrapped for almost two weeks, she was on topical ointments and oral antibiotics. They cleared up but her nails have never been the same.
I think if you are a person who can't live without their nails being done then you need to make sure you inspect where your getting them done at. Don't be afraid to look at the station of where you are getting your nails done at, look at the shop, inspect the workers, make sure they are cleaning their hands in between clients, make sure new equipment is always being used.
Fake nails are a great breeding ground for bacteria. You should always remember as nice as they look the longer you keep them on you are hosting a world of germs and setting yourself up for a world of hurt. So do yourself a favor and take a break in between wearing nails. Let your real nails have the chance to breathe and to grow. You may be surprised. With proper and nutrition you can have strong beautiful and healthy nails.
Maintain your natural nail. Keep the cuticles pushed back and use vitamin E oil. Keep your nails cleaned and filed and remember to always clean under your nails when washing your hands.
There are several alternatives to fake nails. You can have a nice manicure on your own nails even if they are short in due time they will grow out. Just take your time and keep up with it and don't bite, or pick at them.
My overall opinion on this subject is very clear cut. Fake nails are not worth the money to be a breeding ground for bacteria.
