Helium strives to be the most comprehensive, fact-based, user-generated site on the web. It is like a world library for millions who come to be entertained, informed, persuaded about a viewpoint, or engaged in some way.
Passionate, dedicated writers come to Helium, "where knowledge rules," to share knowledge gained from personal experience, academic degrees, training, research, etc.
Helium.com began is 2006 and it has come a l-o-n-g way. Helium, perhaps more than any other writer's site, really listens to its members' input for improvements.
Helium allows instant publication, with a byline. That is gratifying for any writer.
Helium wants every writer to grow into his potential, and the community offers help for all. There are hundreds of channels and thousands of titles to write to. There is something for everyone - readers and writers. Writers can write to existing topics or begin new ones.
Helium is a world Community, presently consisting of almost 40,000 active members. It is a family oriented site for writers aged 13 and over. Helium is not for chat, blogs, or rants.
Helium's present guidelines require articles with a minimum of 400 words; no adult or hate content; no profanity; no duplicate articles; no self-promotion; and no typing in all capital letters, which looks unprofessional. Plagiarism is a deal-breaker. In addition, articles are not to praise or criticize another writer.
Helium's lengthier, "meatier" articles and classy, standardized formatting have created a more professional image. A maximum of 1500 words is recommended for web readers, but a writer may go over - at his own risk.
Writers, who also act as raters and editors, give Helium its credibility, its reputation, its essence, and its authenticity. As the peer-rating system that sets Helium apart from all other sites, the writers are its lifeblood.
As a community, we are here to help one another, and Helium's staff is unsurpassed in its efforts to keep Helium running smoothly. Writers can visit the Community boards to see Q. and A., get personal feedback on their works, make suggestions for improvement, offer encouragement, vent frustrations, get help with writer's block, etc., etc. Help is available to all. Helium's success correlates to our own.
Authors are expected to write polished, self-contained articles. Writers should self-edit, proofread, and use spell check before publishing on Helium. Articles must offer something of value to web readers who want sight-bites of information about
