It's not just luck that Kylie Minogue has been at the top of her profession for twenty year. This woman is a workaholic and knows (and uses) every trick in the book to keep her profile in the public eye.

Celebrity perfumes are aimed at people who want to be like their idols, and are often priced lower than traditional perfumes. The buyer is often an older teenager or a young twentysomething.

Darling' was created by Thierry Wasser in 2006 and sells for around 20 for 30ml. This makes is among the most expensive of the celebrity scents, but still very affordable. With Kylie Minogue's fortune behind it, the amount spent on development is evident in the quality, and reflected on the price tag.

The bottle is not as frivolous as I might have expected. It IS pink (no surprise there) but it is a restrained and classical shape, with a square black stopper. It looks a bit Art Deco and rather like the old style Coty bottles, which is not a surprise, as it was Coty who were behind the development of this perfume. The box is all celebrity razzle-dazzle, being pink, glittery and holographic.

This perfume is advertised as "An evocative, enticing essence representing the richness, sensuality and glamor that is Kylie Minogue " with a scent that is called chypre-floriental'. This means that it has almost all the perfume types represented in it, making it rather un-memorable. It is quite a long-lasting perfume, and you don't have to keep re-spraying it during the day.

It has "A sensual, floral bouquet with a heady, sparkling yet sweet top note of passion fruit, freesia and lychee. The heart is brimming with a delicate, feminine floral blend of lily and bonoria. The base note projects the sensual, enveloping essences of sandalwood, amberwood and vanilla". This is not an overpowering fragrance, and could be worn during the day or at night-time. It would suit a wide range of women, not just the younger market.

This perfume comes in 30ml,50ml and 75ml EDP, 200ml pearly shower get and 200ml silky body lotion.

Darling' was a best-seller in the Christmas of 2006, and continues to be popular. Kylie has now launched Sweet Darling' which is a warmer version of the perfume.
