In my life I have tent camped and I have RV camped. Both have had their ups and downs. But I definitely think that as you get older tent camping looses a lot of its appeal. Just having children you loose the allure of tent camping. I was young when we used a tent. In my late teens, early twenties, to late twenties. It was often a blast to hike into some remote wilderness area in Oregon and pitch a tent by some beautiful high mountain lake. Just me and my partner and a few friends. We would have a blast out there. We were really roughing it and in some ways going to to Adam and Eve days. A time to be wild and carefree. But then I grew older. And those days hold less appeal. Especially with children. Nowadays the RV is the way to go.

RV's offer the ease of home in so many ways and when you are cooking and cleaning and taking care of a toddler and children then you want that ease of home. I don't want to have to hike into somewhere and pitch a tent. Then worry about the kids. I don't think I could ever sleep soundly in a tent knowing that our children are in tents too. I would worry they would wonder off in the woods at night or some animal would attack or a million things that a mother worries about. In the RV we simply load it with everything. Head out on a Friday and find a nice camp spot in a nice campground. We can cook big family meals on a real stove. Even bake in the oven. Take a shower and have the ease of the bathroom right there. Then at night we can fall asleep safely in our own beds and lock the door to the RV and we are safe, warm, well fed, and you were able to wash the dishes in a real sink without hauling lake water and having to boil it over an open fire first.

I just love RV's. They are lovely and they offer everything. TV. Stereo. AC and Heat. A recliner. A sofa. Table and Chairs. Its wonderful. Its a home away from home. Yes, I know its not roughing it. But roughing it is for the young. When you get old you want to enjoy the outdoors but also be able to relax and take it easy for a weekend. Especially when you have children. Then taking a family weekend just has so much more meaning. You don't want to wear yourself out. You want everything to be easy and a fun family experience.
And an RV offers that. Its a wonderful way to travel and camp and see the country. I highly recommend it.
