Section 2: The Mystery

It's a typical summer's day in the small town of Young. It's the local annual Rodeo, and you can't wait to get the day started. This time of year is always a fun and exciting time for the town as it's the only real entertainment that the townsfolk of Young see all year.

At first glance, it appears from all the floats and horse trucks around the place, that most of the competitors and entertainers have come from out of town, and probably been here for a few days at the very least.

As well as the usual, western riding and events going on, the showground is full of noise from the show rides, and general carnival activities that are always associated with a local get together.

For the most of the day you entertain yourself watching the barrel racing and reining classes. In afternoon, whilst sitting in the shade, with your hamburger and coke for lunch, you hear old Jack Daniels make an announcement over the microphone.

"It's with sad regret, that I announce the departure of Bethany, our locally know cowgirl. She was found early this morning, with major bruising to her head. At this stage we are unsure of how this has happened, and are treating the death as suspicious. If you believe you have any information that may be important to Bethany's death please come and see Officer Johns at the entrance to the show grounds.

You always like helping out Officer Johns, so the least you could do is help him out and start looking into the mystery yourself.

Bethany was about the same age as your older sister Jody, and you had over head her talking about Bethany, and Ginger being her girlfriend. As you didn't really know Bethany to well, this is probably the best place to start.

You find Ginger, down at the warm up arena. It appears she is quite upset about her friends passing, so you decide to tread lightly on the matter.

Between sobs, Ginger explains a little about Bethany.
"Oh she was my best friend, I loved her like my sister. We always loved competing together, but she was my worst enemy at the barrels races, it wouldn't matter how much I practiced, she would always bet me. To tell you the truth, I was always a little envies of her".

You contemplate this for a moment..

Ginger continues.

"Bethany was a great cowgirl, but like her fiery red her, she did have a temper on her. I've seen her do all sorts of things to get horses to do what she wanted and
