Perfect Mask

You think I'm happy,
You think I'm fine,
You think I'm perfect,
Behind this perfect mask of mine.

My laugh is practiced perfect,
I know it all seems real,
But what you don't know about me,
Is what is hidden behind this smiles seal.

The bags under my eyes,
From many restless nights,
Is what's behind this make up,
Hidden from people's sight.

I make you laugh,
I tell you what you want to hear,
I'm everything you want me to be,
And I live in constant fear.

You think I trust you,
You think you know me well,
But you'll never know all these secrets,
These ones I'll never tell.

I have this mask,
The one you see,
So perfectly it covers my face,
When will I be free?

What do you see,
When you look into my eyes?
Can you see the puffy redness,
From all those nights I cried.

My smile may be perfect,
But what you don't see,
Is that if I took off this perfect mask,
You wouldn't even be able to believe it was me.
