Predicting the next technological invention

Here is my take on the PC of the near future along with some links to technology that are here now or are almost here. I like to think of myself as a midnight futurist because the best times for ideas tend to be midnight.

In the near future the phone will morph into a personal computer, communicator, and entertainment center, research center, along with an augmented reality contact lenses or sun glasses we may be sporting.

The new computers of the near future will look and work like this "well maybe". The old PC of the world today will not longer exist it will be replaced with a phone like device called your Personal CCER-AR system (personal computer, communicator, entertainment center, research center and along with augmented reality system) or another catchy acronym.

You'll wake up one morning at 6:45 AM hearing your favorite music as the alarm from your CCER device. Get dressed and start heading down stairs, you hear your car starting after issuing a voice command to your CCER. You have been viewing the weather and traffic news through your augmented glasses that serve no other purpose but to interact with your CCER system. You chose the light weight stylish sunlight darkening shades the fit your face well instead of the contact lens system. The weather report shows you it was below freezing last night and your car was left outside so a warm up is a good idea. You have a bowl of crispy healthy cereal for breakfast and head out.

While sitting in your car preparing to drive to work you see through your CCER a list of On Demand music, audio shows and sports talk radio shows to choose from. You issue Colin Cowherd command from your list and Colin starts his sports talk radio show stream. As your driving to work your CCER alerts you of an accident ahead and you avoid it thanks to your CCER warnings, you also notice traffic is backed up on I-5 four to five miles, that would've made you very late. Your CCER provides you turn by turn instruction through a mapped detour course overlaid in front of your view in a transparent map that does not obstruct your view of the road, not unlike the HUD user interface in a GT racing game.

You get to Starbucks walk in the store and the augmented realty displays the latest music, TV shows, and movies that you can order while waiting for your drink at the issue of a command. You order a Chai-Tea or whatever beverage you drink in the morning and OK the transaction with a gesture, the CCER debits your account. No real money is used and
