The best new places to retire to around the world keep changing. Yesterday it was probably Florida, now it most likely Arizona, or even West Virginia. Seniors will do well to retire to places that they are familiar with and to places where they will not have to make too many adjustments. Settling in other countries will be easier for those who have traveled to these places and who know of the customs; otherwise, it is best not to retire to unknown areas.
All in all, most will be retiring in their own countries; possibly to areas catering to their lifestyles; but most will stay where they are. In old age there is comfort in familiarity. Yet for some, change is also good and the challenges that come with it add to the excitement of the retirement years.
With that thought in mind, I decided to find out the best places world wide offering superb retirement services. To make the search more enlightening and adventurous, I decided to use several different search engines. (Since a lot of us only travel through the internet, this will give an online search a new twist.
Of course. I soon learned most of the search engines responded to the request by bringing up the most obvious, but there were difference in this approach. What I gained most from this new method of traveling the world via the internet was the efficiency of the search engine. How well did it respond to my request and how innovative was it, I wanted to know. I will hence forth stick to Google and its neck to neck running mate, Yahoo. MSN is a good third choice. All others are either too old and outdated or are focused on particulars.
I started out alphabetically. Alta Vista suggested Houston Texas and Panama. The reason for Panama is that the living there is easy. It topped the list in 2007 but for 2008 Mexico is at the head of the list. Mexico is interesting and inexpensive and it has the look of the past but the living is upbeat and present;so they say.
Ecuador was also another choice. Jennefer Stevens, in her online article, cited the reasons for this choice of world retirement. They have had many political setbacks in the past few years and its economy is at a low level. Thus the expense of living there is affordable. I question this: Would not economic stability be a good reason to settle in a new place? Of course one would have to know the area and the people.
At Ag.com I found an article (.usnewsandworldreport.com) that listed San Francisco as one of the best places worldwide
