Getting started with selling on eBay

To start selling on EBay is easy and quick. After you register and set up your accounts, you can begin selling. And you can also begin getting rid of your clutter and unused and unwanted stuff just sitting around the house. You can even make money in the process. Here's how to begin:

Register as a Member with EBay
You must be 18 years of age and a registered member to sell or buy on EBay. Go to EBay.com and click the Register Now button, then follow the easy to understand directions. You will need to provide an e-mail address. This is where all the notification of activity on your account will be sent.

Open a Seller's Account
If you are a first time seller, you'll need to create a Seller's Account. A credit card account number is requested to verify your identity, but the credit card will only be charged for fees you authorize.

Open a Pay Pal Account
Pay Pal is a widely accepted method for making and accepting payments over the Internet. It is safe and secure. Credit cards and e check payments are processed for you and you are notified when the transaction is complete. Go to Pay Pay.com to set up the account.

Now you are ready to start selling. Decide what it is you want to sell and take a photo of it that can be uploaded to the site. Then sign in to your account. After you have signed in, just click Sell in the upper right hand corner.

You'll need to list the item you have for sale. Then click Start Selling. You'll be taken to the page to select the category that best describes where a buyer might be looking for your item. There are some items that are prohibited for sale on EBay, and there is a comprehensive list to refer to. Some of the items on the list are alcohol, used underwear, used cosmetics, drugs, firearms and weapons, and food, but there are many more. Check the list to make sure if you're in doubt.

After selecting the category you will be asked to upload the photo of your item, The first photo is free, and there is a small charge for any additional ones. Click on Add a Photo to upload.

Describe the item you're selling. Include the color, size and measurements, if applicable, or a description of the item you've listed for sale. Check the spelling and grammar. There is a Sell Your Item Checklist you can view to get more ideas.

Next you need to set the price, and shipping details. The Set the Price box is preloaded to begin at $.99. Change it to whatever you want to charge for the item. The beginning price is a way to get people to check out your merchandise
