Poetry: Beauty

BEAUTY UNSEEN

Sometimes I wonder about the beauty I'm missing
Hidden in shadows where the eye can't admire,
Snow lilies under water kissing
Or the slant of sunlight on fire.

In a place nobody sees
In a cave nobody hears
Where one might fall to their knees
Where that beauty would bring them to tears.

Sometimes I ponder the rose
The unfolding of every silk tongue,
The splendor of her erect pose,
The song she waits to be sung,

At night when nobody sees
She opens her body so pure
Allowing her scarlett breasts to go free
Covering up before daylight comes near.

Sometimes I weep not knowing
How the panther's sleek coat would feel,
Or the sound of Africa's roaring
Or Kenya's untamed heavens of teal.

Sometimes I consider dead verse
The poems I will never read
The poets still in the hearse
Clawing for their words to be freed.

Sometimes I need to remember
That beauty exists all alone
That Emmanuel even takes pleasure
In what's hidden right from His throne.
