Beginner's guide to poker

To start with if your a beginner when it comes to poker stay away from playing on line poker, its fun but ultimately ineffective when it comes to you getting any better at it.
When you play on line you play with free chips, and with nothing really big at stake you will get people raising, calling, and going all in on a pair of 2's,and this gets very frustrating for someone that wants a proper game of poker.

You also want to start learning to be able to read your opponent, and the best way to do that is by playing face to face in a pub or down your local poker hall,or even in your own home.

To start with lets learn the hands in poker you could get:

1, The Royal Flush - The five highest cards,10,jack,queen,king, and ace of the same suit.

2, Straight Flush - Any five cards of the same suit in running order, 5,6,7,8,9

3, Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same, king, king, king, king

4, Full House - Any three cards of the same denomination, plus any pair of a different denomination, ace, ace, ace, jack, jack

5, Flush - Any five cards of the same suit, spade, spade, spade, spade, spade

6 , Straight - Any five consecutive cards of mixed suits. Ace of spades,2 of diamonds,3 of clubs,4 of hearts,5 of spades.

7, Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same, 5,5,5

8, Two Pair - Two pairs of different denomination 6,6 9,9

9, One Pair - Two cards of the same value, ace, ace.

10, High Card - If no other hand is achieved, the highest card wins.

They are the hands you can get in poker now we have that sorted lets start with the types of players you will encounter.

Aggressive players: These are the bullies in poker, they will raise and re raise to try and get you out of the hand, their not stupid they wont be aggressive if they haven't actually got anything but some do,so its down to you to get a fix on them in the first couple of hands you play with them.

Loose Players: loose players quite simply bet on anything that they are given, they could have a 5 and a 2 and they would still bet, they have the chance of a straight but the chances of that happening every hand is remote. You will get a fix on these players quite quick.

Tight players: These are the dangerous players, more so than the aggressive players. These players are like army sniper's,they will wait and wait until they are given a great hand, these players wont play unless they have ace's.kings,or queens in their hands. So when they do put their chips in there's a good reason for it.

Cautious Players: These are the players that let other people in their head, they
