Poetry: Anger

Invasion

The transformation of one moment,
words spoken in haste.
Misunderstanding,
the spontaneous wild fire,
setting the tongue ablaze with harshness.

A face not his own,
contorted brow,
eyes no longer soft,
stone.

She looks away from this
sudden stranger before her.

A moment more,
the light of reason returning.
The stranger is gone,
in the blink of an eye.

"I didn't mean it like that," she says.
He can't remember what was said.

The familiar face of shame surfacing,
late, as usual.

"I'm sorry," he says.
The one line in this unfortunate drama
he never seems to forget.

Again, as before, like every time prior to that,
he wonders how this invasion happens?
What planet does this anger come from?

Is it a planet from some place dark within,
or from a darkness without.

Either way, he knows for sure,
the planet is dark.
