Your "meaning of life"

The meaning of life. Life must have a purpose to having meaning. Finding our purpose in life or what we believe to be our purpose in life can be a rough and confusing journey. This journey is one that we must make in order to discover the true meaning of our lives. Will we be successful in life? How do we personally measure success? Does success give our lives meaning?

Is love the all important factor that gives life meaning? If so, where and how do we obtain it? Everyone obviously has a different opinion of what gives life meaning. The meaning of life to me is to discover what plan God really has for me and to put that plan into action. Love adds meaning to life, but it doesn't fill our lives to the fullest. Success certainly helps me to achieve my goals, but success isn't always meaningful.

The search for meaning to life must begin with self reflection. In order to discover our own deepest and most intimate feelings and aspirations we must draw our subconscious thoughts to the conscious level in our minds. Once we have brought the most subconscious desires, thoughts and feelings to the surface we can silently reflect on them in meditation until our minds have consciously resolved internal conflicts that could be a barrier to self discovery.

When we have completed our self discovery phase in our long and difficult journey toward finding the true meaning of our lives. We must apply what we've learned about ourselves to our everyday existence. Is it a match? Are the differences between our inner selves and our public lives similar or vastly different? Are we happy in our present situations?

Happiness is important to finding meaning in our lives. Good and bad, dark and light coexist in balance with each other. Happiness and unhappiness can also coexist. When we understand ourselves completely and weigh our unhappiness and happiness on a scale which would weigh more?
Which way would the scale tip? If it tips toward unhappiness than we have more work to do in finding meaning to our lives. The concept of having a meaning or purpose in our lives by its very existence forces us to search until we find it. If we are happy in our lives then we are close to discovering its true meaning or purpose.

Like a compass that always points north, feelings of happiness in our lives point in the direction where we will find meaning in our lives. Without self reflection and self discovery the search for meaning to our lives is like wandering in a dessert without a map, food or water. We will soon be lost, hungry and thirsty. We must know what makes us truly happy and increases our feelings of self worth. Is it money, helping others or some sort of special skill? Is it spiritual? Finding God is enough for many people who discover that developing a relationship with our creator gives their lives meaning. What makes you happy?
